Storm Track 3 Forecast: Winter Storm Warnings, single digit wind chills Saturday

Winter weather alerts have expanded farther east to account for accumulating snowfall this evening.  More significant accumulations will be in the Winter Storm Warning area.

This system is slowly tracking east across Kansas through the early overnight.  Warmer temps will have a sliver of this snow briefly change to rain before switching back to all snow thanks to colder temps taking over.

Roadways will become slick.  Temperatures overnight will drop to the teens and twenties with wind chills in the single digits.

Snowfall potential will be the highest to the southwest with isolated accumulations from 4″ to 10″ of snow.  Areas farther east will be impacted by a band of heavier snow that will produce an inch or two with up to isolated 3″ of snow for select spots near and south of I-70 through early tonight. Wichita is still around an inch of snow.

The sky will then generally clear from west to east by dawn as the system exits.

Winds will increase on Saturday with chilly temperatures.  Gusts to the northwest will be the strongest between 35 and 45 MPH.

Highs will be in the 40s for most with the 30s in areas impacted by more snow.  Temperatures will then rebound late this weekend into early next week.

By Tuesday, several of us will get back to the sixties.  Another cold front will take temps down by the middle of next week.

A few showers will also come with this change.  Any activity looks sparse and spotty.  Another cold front will bring another shot of colder air southward into the following weekend.
