Sedgwick County: Polling site closures not intentional as thousands are moved

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichitans head to the polls seven weeks from Tuesday to vote on a 1% sales tax, but thousands of voters will not be going to their usual polling place.

Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Laura Rainwater says 11 locations — most of them churches — will not be available on March 3. That means 26,205 people will have to cast their ballots elsewhere, and the change is costing the city an additional $20,000.

Rumors have been circulating about why the locations are unavailable, but Rainwater says no one is at fault…
