Endowment set up for Alzheimer’s and dementia research at Wichita’s KU Med

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A $25,000 endowed fund has been established for the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita to research Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The endowment is a gift from Wichita-based Comfort Care Homes, a provider of dementia care. It will provide annual funding for research projects related to Alzheimer’s, dementia and the caregiver experience, with an emphasis on student-led research.

Comfort Care said the endowment grew out of its partnership with the school and its training program, in which students work directly with people living with dementia in real-world care settings.
