Mild the next few days before big changes late this week

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is another cold morning across Kansas with temperatures in the teens and wind chills in the single digits to near zero degrees. However, later today will be milder than Monday as sunshine and a southerly wind send highs into the upper 40s and lower 50s.

A weak cold front moving across Kansas later today and tonight will allow cooler temperatures to return to the state. Expect highs generally in the near normal lower to middle 40s on both Wednesday and Thursday underneath mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

The next batch of Arctic air will be arriving on Friday and will last for a long time. In fact, once the temperature falls below freezing on Thursday night, the Wichita area may not see 32 degrees again until next week. And the mornings will be much worse with dangerous wind chills around 10 to 15 degrees below zero…
