Fire is one disaster that plenty of folks have experienced over the years, and we aren’t just talking about via personal homes or vehicles. Rather, quite a few businesses have been lost to fires as well, and that even applies to The Blue Oval in various ways – aside from suffering plant fires and blazes at one of its largest suppliers in recent months, we’ve also seen more than one Ford dealer suffer a devastating fire over the years. Recently, that happened yet again.
This most recent Ford dealer fire occurred at Jarrett-Gordon Ford in Winter Haven, Florida, according to WFLA News, after it started in the service bay at the dealership. That fire quickly spread, engulfing a grand total of 20 vehicles before the Winter Haven Fire Department, Polk County Fire Department, and Lake Alfred Fire Department combined their resources to put it out.
Getting the fire under control took around 35 minutes, and for now at least, it’s unclear what caused it in the first place. The dealership did issue a statement saying that the fire wasn’t caused by an electric vehicle or EV charger, which we imagine was intended to stop that sort of speculation before it could start.
Nearly two years ago, Lubbers Ford in Cheney, Kansas also suffered a similar disaster when fire broke out due to a spark created while an employee was performing spot welds on a vehicle. That spark reportedly ignited a nearby chemical, which quickly caught on fire. It wasn’t long before those flames engulfed the entire service department, which had five customer cars parked in it at the time…
