Here are top Kansas snowfalls from massive storm

A storm expected to bring wintry precipitation and frigid conditions to more than half the nation dumped as much as 7 inches of snow on Kansas late Friday, Jan. 23, and early Saturday, Jan. 24, with more snow expected.

The websites for the National Weather Service’s offices in Topeka and Wichita at 2:30 p.m. Saturday identified the following as being the heaviest snowfall totals recorded so far:

  • 8 inches, 4 miles northeast of Delphos.
  • 7 inches, one mile south/southwest of Beloit.
  • 6 inches, Hillsboro, two miles south of Hays and six miles west/southwest of Glendale.
  • 5.5 inches, Emporia and three miles west/northwest of Goessel.
  • 5.2 inches, 7 miles south of Windom.
  • 5.1 inches, nine miles northeast of Victor.
  • 5 inches, Salina, Morrowville, Louisville, Cawker City and one mile southwest of Hutchinson.
  • 4.8 inches, Hill City and Halstead.
  • 4.5 inches at Ness City and Inman.
  • 4.3 inches, one mile north of Marysville.
  • 4 inches at McLouth; North Newton; Hillsboro; Esbon; McClouth; five miles west/southwest of Agra; 13 miles southwest of Tipton; three miles north of Manhattan; and three miles east/northeast of Zurich.
  • 3.8 inches, Chapman.
  • 3.6 inches, Smith Center.
  • 3.5 inches at Kinsey, Lewis, Ozawkie, Spearville and Great Bend.
