Wichita Public Library invites community to celebrate 150 years

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — David Garcia with the Wichita Public Library stopped by KSN News at Noon on Monday to talk about how the library is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

“On Feb. 3, 1876, your Wichita Public Library came into existence,” Garcia said. “So 150 years ago, we started providing shared access to information, resources, technology and community space to connect and gather.”

To mark the anniversary, the library is asking Wichitans to help build a display that reflects the community. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 3, visitors can stop by the Advanced Learning Library with their stories, photos and hopes for the next 150 years.
