Bill could create Kansas Railroad Hall of Fame in Wichita

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Kansas lawmakers are looking at a bill this year to honor the state’s deep railroad history.

Two bills in the state legislature, Senate Bill 353 and House Bill 2607, were introduced recently by lawmakers who are keen to keep Kansas’ railroad heritage alive. The legislation, if approved, would designate an official Kansas Railroad Hall of Fame and establish a selection committee for the organization consisting of people who are connected to the railroad industry.

The purposes of the Kansas Railroad Hall of Fame is to celebrate the state’s connection to the railroad industry and Kansans, both past and present, who are leaders in this field. The location for the hall of fame would be set at the Great Plains Transportation Museum in Wichita.
