WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that it has suspended the acceptance of books for inmates at the Adult Detention Facility.
The sheriff’s office said it has reason to believe that books sent by third-party vendors are involved in trafficking contraband into the jail.

“The temporary suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of inmates and staff while we review our book policy,” a spokesman said.
