WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Wind Surge announced that a new alter ego was added to the team’s lineup on Thursday.
The franchise said the “Wichita Honkers” are a tribute to the city’s “unofficial traffic controllers,” Canadian geese.
The geese are found near downtown and along the Arkansas River. Sometimes they stop traffic by walking across intersections, roundabouts and anywhere else Wichitans drive.
