Wichita roofing company banned from working in the state for ‘deceptive acts’

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Wichita family is seeing justice after a local roofing company was fined nearly half a million dollars for repeated violations of the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office found Tyler Sims and Flint Hills Roofing Company left projects unfinished, failed to pull required permits, and forged estimates to insurance companies.

Family’s experience

Rachel and Ryan Shellhammer became victims of the company in 2024 when Flint Hills Roofing cold-called them after a storm.
