Augusta, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Over 30 teams made their way to Augusta on Friday and Saturday for the Class 4A Super Regional at Augusta High School. It was the second year of the super regional in Class 4A, as the top eight wrestlers in each weight class qualify for the state tournament in Salina February 27-28.
Colby had a big second day on the backside of the bracket, and rallied to win the regional, edging Chapman by one point. The Lady Eagles would qualify eight for state. Scott City tied for sixth and qualified a school-record five wrestlers. Haylie McDaniel was the regional champion at 110 pounds for the Lady Beavers. Holcomb was 12th and qualified three wresetlers, as Amyah Caro was a regional runner-up. Ulysses came in 13th place and qualified four wrestlers, with all four wrestlers placing sixth.
