Loaded grain train derails off tracks in W. Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Update: A train with cars loaded with grain derailed on tracks along North Custer Street, just south of West Central Avenue, in west Wichita. The site of the derailment is a little west of Zoo Boulevard.

Watco Companies, L.L.C., an American transportation and logistics company based in Pittsburg, Kan., said crews were able to clear the Central crossing but had to close the road “to affect re-railing and track repair.”

In an update on early Monday afternoon, Watco said the expectation was for Central to be open by the end of the day, “but Custer Street will remain closed for crossing surface repairs.”…
