Wind blown warm-up today and Tuesday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Jake Dunne says it is a relatively mild morning across Kansas with wake-up temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Later today will follow suit as gusty south winds take temperatures into the lower 70s. If Wichita reaches 72 degrees, it will tie the record high from 1898.

Tuesday promises to be very windy and even warmer with near record high temperatures. Most of the state will warm into the 70s, if not lower 80s which is 25 to 30 degrees above normal. However, south winds between 20 and 40 mph with higher gusts will create extreme wildfire weather concerns.

A weak cold front moving across Kansas Tuesday night will usher in cooler temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday. However, expected highs in the 50s and 60s keep us five to fifteen degrees above average for late February…
