Parrish Twins Break Wichita State 200m Record at Steve Miller Invitational

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Wichita State’s Jason Parrish and Josh Parrish both broke the Shockers’ 23-year-old program record in the 200-meter dash Friday evening at the Steve Miller Invitational.

The Parrish twins went 1-2 in their heat of the 200, finishing second and third overall, as Jason Parrish set a new school record with a personal-best time of 21.01, and Josh Parrish ran the second-fastest time in school history with a personal best of 21.07. The record was previously held by Shannon Armstrong, who ran 21.19 in 2003.

Prior to his record-breaking performance in the 200, Josh Parrish won back-to-back events, jumping an indoor personal best of 7.45m/24’5.5″ to win the long jump and running 7.71, just 0.01 seconds off his personal best and school record 60-meter hurdles time to win the final. Shannon Armstrong’s nephew, Jabari Armstrong, moved up to No. 9 all-time in school history in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 7.89 in the prelim before finishing third in the final with a time of 7.91…
