WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – More than four decades have passed since Wichita State student Manouchehr “Mike” Nafar vanished without a trace.
On Feb. 25, 1983, Nafar’s yellow van was found abandoned and set on fire at a car wash on the south end of Augusta. His Kansas license plate — SG M 37993, with a 1983 expiration tag — was missing.
Nafar was 25 years old at the time. According to government records, he was expected to return to his home on the southeast side of Wichita that day, but investigators are not certain he ever made it there. He also missed class at Wichita State University and had plans to search for a job…
