The wind will relax to the southeast by early evening. The highest fire danger is across Oklahoma with Kay and Harper counties under a Fire Weather Warning along with extreme Southeast Kansas until 8 PM.
There is a slim chance a few sprinkles approach the Nebraska state line this evening and fizzle.
Lows tonight will not be too cold in the 30s.
Clouds higher in the atmosphere will flow by on Wednesday with comfortable highs ranging from the 50s in Northeast Kansas to the 70s in the southwest. Wichita will have another day in the 60s.
Fire Weather Watches are in place for our northwesternmost counties from noon to 8 PM on Wednesday. Strong winds and warm temperatures ahead of our next boundary will create fire weather concerns.
A cold front comes through, triggering showers and a few storms late Wednesday into the overnight.
Not much rain will fall, and a lot could evaporate before hitting the ground.
At best, select spots may obtain a tenth of an inch before the system exits to the southeast ahead of dawn on Thursday.
Temperatures will dial back before warming on Friday.
Winds will increase on Friday, enabling more elevated fire concerns for Kansas.
Another but more potent cold front dips south over the weekend. Rain showers are possible on Sunday especially in portions of central and eastern Kansas. The front may hang by just south of us, keeping more moisture in play early next week.
Temps will be brought back closer to average late this weekend into early next week. Trends are pointing to a stronger system by the end of next week that may bring rain, storms and even snow back to Kansas. We will watch it as we get closer.
