WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Construction crews and the Orpheum Theatre staff are in the middle of their restoration effort at the century-old landmark.
The theater is replacing nearly 1,300 seats, and it offered fans a chance to buy the old ones for $30 apiece. The Orpheum ended up selling around 400, and each one has a unique home.
“I thought maybe we’d send out 50 seats,” Stacee Olden, Orpheum executive director, said. “I couldn’t believe that we were able to remove about 400 seats from the theater.”
