Sedgwick County commissioners to vote on $10M Cedric Lofton settlement

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Sedgwick County commissioners will decide next week whether to approve a settlement stemming from the in-custody death of Cedric Lofton.

The case went to a jury trial in January. The jury reached a verdict in favor of Lofton’s brother, awarding $8.3 million against county corrections employees.

Under federal law, the county is also required to pay attorney fees, bringing the total settlement to more than $10 million…
