PARK CITY, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) – History was made at Heartland Credit Union Arena Saturday evening. Basehor-Linwood not only kept perennial power Goddard at bay on the boys’ side in Class 5A, but the Bobcat boys and girls both secured their first team wrestling titles in school history. The boys won their title with 169.5 points. Goddard, winner of 11 of the last 12 5A titles, finished second with 131 points. Newton took home the final team trophy with 114 points, followed by Hutchinson with 107.5 points.
The girls’ side was virtually a runaway. Basehor-Linwood claimed that title with 200.5 points, followed by Kapaun Mt. Carmel with 157 points, and Shawnee Heights with 141.5 points for third. Pittsburg finished a distant fourth with 108 points.
