Man dead, woman critically injured after shooting, crash in east Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – One man is dead and a woman is in critical condition following a domestic incident that ended in a deadly crash on Wichita’s south side.

Wichita police responded to a crash in the 1400 block of South Greenwich Road at 10:59 p.m. Officers arrived to find a vehicle that had collided with a power pole. The 19-year-old driver was pronounced dead about 15 minutes later. Officers also found a 24-year-old woman near the scene with a gunshot wound to her lower torso.

Police said the incident began in the 7500 block of West Maple Street, where the 19-year-old man confronted the 24-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man who was a passenger in her vehicle. When the woman and the 18-year-old left the scene in her car, the 19-year-old suspect chased them at high rates of speed…
