Sedgwick County approves $10 million settlement in Cedric Lofton case

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Sedgwick County will pay $10.3 million to the family of a Wichita teenager who died in custody in 2021.

On Wednesday, the Board of County Commissioners approved a settlement in the case of Cedric “CJ” Lofton.

The settlement resolves all the claims in the case, and the $10.3 million includes the $8.3 million that a jury awarded to Lofton’s estate last month.
