WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The daughter of Wichita’s first Black woman to serve on the city’s Board of Education dropped by KSN News at Noon to talk about her mother’s legacy as part of Women’s History Month.
Sheila Brown-Kinnard said there are many women in the community who are walking in the footsteps of her mother’s legacy.

“She said, ‘If there is a need, we need to fill it.’ Brown-Kinnard said. “So, she knew that there was a need for someone to be on the Board of Education, and she filled that need at that time.”
Brown-Kinnard said that had a big impact on her personally, and she wants to “follow in my mother’s footsteps.”…
