Police arrest man accused of trying to check out 13-year-old girl from Wichita school

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Wichita police have arrested a 36-year-old man after he entered Gordon Parks Academy on two separate occasions and made unauthorized contact with a 13-year-old girl.

Detectives booked the man into the Sedgwick County Jail on a stalking charge Wednesday afternoon. Sedgwick County Jail records identify the man as Michael D. Arnold, of Wichita.

Two incidents at the school

The first incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 9. Investigators said the man gained access to the building and spoke with the 13-year-old girl without parental authorization.

The man returned to the school Tuesday, March 10. School staff told him to leave immediately and called police.

Arrest and charges

Detectives with the Wichita Police Department’s Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit worked the case. At 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, officers took the man into custody and transported him to the Sedgwick County Jail on a stalking charge.
