German sausage, rosy applesauce the stars of this annual Wichita church dinner

Wichita will be a sea of corned beef and cabbage in the coming days. Those who need a break from all the St. Patrick’s Day fare, though, can take one at an annual Wichita church dinner that stars German sausage.

On Sunday, St. Joseph Catholic Parish at 132 S. Millwood will put on its 66th annual parish dinner, which offers meals of German sausage (still made today from a recipe a parishioner created for the first dinner) plus mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, corn, coleslaw, sauerkraut, rosy applesauce made with the addition of cranberries, and homemade desserts.

Meals cost $15 at the door. Children will be allowed to share a plate.
