WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Less than 24 hours after a warm, sunny day with calm winds, Kansas was hit with a sharp weather reversal Sunday, bringing snow flurries, damaging winds and travel warnings across much of the state.
Traces of snow were reported in South Hutchinson, with flurries reaching as far south as Cowley County.
As of about 1 p.m. Sunday, Storm Team 12 Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen reported the following peak wind speeds:
- Wichita: 63 mph
- Hutchinson: 53 mph
- Salina: 61 mph
- Russell: 62 mph
- Dodge City: 66 mph
- Hill City: 64 mph
