Wichita police detective seriously injured during arrest after stolen vehicle recovered

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Wichita police detective was seriously injured during the arrest of a suspect accused of stealing a vehicle. The Wichita Police Department reported recovering the vehicle and arresting an 18-year-old man in connection with the auto theft.

The teen resisted officers, leading to the detective’s facial injury, the WPD explained. The situation leading to the arrest and the deputy’s injury began about 7:10 a.m. Tuesday with an emergency call to report that a blue Mercedes-Benze C300 was stolen after it’d been left running to warm up, police explained.
