WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man was charged Friday in connection with an assault on a police detective at a Wichita motel.
Dayten Pollard, 18, appeared in court on charges of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, burglary, theft and interference with law enforcement.
On Tuesday morning, police allege that Pollard stole a Mercedes-Benz that was left running to warm up. A detective then spotted the car at the Uptown Motel near North Broadway Avenue and 13th Street, police said.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, but the Wichita Police Department said Pollard resisted arrest. During the struggle, a detective suffered a facial injury that WPD described as serious but not life-threatening.
