A Wichita man has been sentenced to five years for shooting and killing a Dodge City man with a pellet gun in a north Wichita alleyway.

Ricardo Talavera, 41, pleaded no-contest to involuntary manslaughter and interfering with police after 49-year-old Ruben Parga-Quintanar was found dead in an alley near Talavera’s home in the 2300 block of N. Jeanette last summer, court records show.

Talavera was arrested after a relative tipped off the police, a probable cause affidavit said. He did not offer a motive for the August 1, 2025 shooting, but neighbors and family members said that when people were in the alley, “Ricardo would go out and confront them, yelling at them and/or ‘talking (expletive)’ to them, telling them to get out of there,” the affidavit read…
