Man, 52, faces multiple charges after traffic stop in northern Cowley County

A Cowley County Sheriff’s deputy used a Taser to take a 52-year-old man into custody Wednesday evening after a brief pursuit ended in a low-lying water area northwest of Udall.

According to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy attempted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of First Road before the driver, identified as Kristopher Shane Clem, fled the scene.

The pursuit ended when Clem drove into a low area and came to a stop in water. Authorities said he failed to follow commands after stopping, and a Taser was deployed before he was taken into custody. Continue below ad.
