Man gets just over five years in 2025 Wichita homicide

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man who pleaded guilty in a 2025 shooting death in Wichita has been sentenced to prison.

Jaden Watts was sentenced Friday in Sedgwick County District Court to 61 months in prison, or just over five years.

On March 22, 2025, Demarc Burgess was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at a home near 143rd Street East and Kellogg Avenue. The 24-year-old died a short time later.
