A wet Wednesday with soaking rain across Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is a warm and muggy morning, but a cold front is moving across Kansas, and changes will be arriving later today and tonight. While afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s are well above normal, they are not high enough to break records.

The first of several rounds of showers and storms will move across central and eastern Kansas tonight. While pockets of heavy rainfall are possible, severe weather is unlikely. Most areas will get a break in the action tomorrow morning, before round two rolls across the state Wednesday afternoon and night. While soaking rain is a safe bet, widespread severe weather is not expected.

The final, and perhaps most potent, round of storms happens on Friday afternoon and evening. While the forecast is far from certain, the chance of large hail and damaging wind gusts is climbing, especially along and east of a Hays to Dodge City line…
