Former Derby principal makes court appearance in theft case

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A former principal at El Paso Elementary School in Derby USD 260 made her first appearance in court on Wednesday.

Ashley Hartley is charged with felony forgery, one count of felony theft and one count of misdemeanor theft.

According to court documents, Hartley is accused of stealing between $1,500 and $25,000 from the Derby Public Schools hospitality fund and less than $1,500 from El Paso Elementary’s hospitality fund.
