NEWKIRK — A Mulvane, Kansas man is scheduled for his 30th appearance in Kay County District Court this week after being charged in 2021 with a felony count of assault and battery upon a detention officer. The charge was reduced from assault and battery on a jail employee.
Dana Reese Kebert, 34, was charged with the offense after jail staff reported on Oct. 5, 2021, that Kebert struck a jailer on the left side of the face.
In the affidavit, jail staff reports that Kebert was being escorted to the shower when he struck jailer Baily Coleman on the face. He reportedly asked Coleman, “What if I stabbed you in the head?” before striking him.
Coleman called for assistance and Kebert was returned to his cell…
