Sentencing Day: For Kansas driver who fled after 136mph crash

SEDGWICK COUNTY — A man who admitted leaving the scene of a high-speed crash that seriously injured two people will learn his fate Tuesday in the courtroom of Judge Christopher Magana’s courtroom.

In February, Rakim Dean, who was 28 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated battery and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Just before 2a.m. May 7, 2023, police responded to the report of an injury collision involving an overturned Jeep near Kellogg and Interstate 235, according to officer Kristopher Gupilan.
