Hays girls, Bishop Carroll boys win small but tough Pratt meet

PRATT, Kan. (Catch it Kansas) – Conditions were hardly ideal for track and field athletes around Kansas Friday. In Pratt, an invitational was moved back to a 2 p.m. start, only to be delayed 90 minutes because of storms. A star-studded meet eventually proceeded with some changes to the format in field events.

One of those stars is Hays junior Lyndi Zimmerman, who entered the meet as one of just five hurdlers under 15 seconds this year. Even in the conditions, Zimmerman posted a 15.09 to win the 100s. Bishop Carroll sophomore Reese Whiteley ran second in 15.99.

“There was a ton of off-season work, but I tore my hamstring at the state meet, so I had to recover from that,” Zimmerman said of her quick start. “It was almost a buildup, but I still think my times are pretty good.”…
