WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Kansas man is being accused of child abuse after prosecutors say a 4-month-old’s injury caused her to go blind.
On Monday, a judge found probable cause to try 28-year-old Derek Delgado of Larned on two charges:
- Child abuse — recklessly causing great bodily harm, permanent disability or disfigurement
- Child abuse — knowingly causing great bodily harm, permanent disability or disfigurement
On Oct. 9, a 4-month-old baby was airlifted from Pawnee Valley Community Hospital to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
The child was found to have injuries consistent with being shaken, according to the Pawnee County Attorney’s Office. But when interviewed by investigators, Delgado had said he had fallen asleep in bed while feeding the baby and woke up on top of the baby…
