Record heat likely today across Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is an unseasonably warm and muggy morning across Kansas, and the day ahead will follow suit as temperatures top-out in the lower to middle 90s. The record high today in Wichita is 92 degrees (1966) and we should at least tie it, if not break it.

Southerly winds, higher humidity, and (record/near record) heat will continue through the weekend. Highs in the lower to middle 90s may feel a degree or two higher when you factor in the humidity, and more record highs will be broken, especially on Saturday.

Isolated strong or low-end severe storms are possible this evening/night, mainly across north central Kansas, and Saturday evening/night across northwest Kansas. Sunday looks a little more ominous across central Kansas as a dry line should help ignite a batch of strong to severe storms during the afternoon and evening…
