Cooldown continues midweek before rain chances rise

The area will gradually get back to rain and thunderstorm chances. Most of the rain around this morning is to the northwest and has been light but there have also been a few sprinkles to the southeast.

Today’s chance for rain will continue to mainly be confined to the west. Southwest Kansas is pretty dry early this morning but their chances will start to go up later today.

The cooldown continues today too. High temperatures will mainly be in the 60s to the low 70s.

Spotty showers and storms will track west to east tonight and begin to impact more of Central Kansas.

There will be some leftovers that linger into and through Thursday.

The cloud cover and some rain around will aid in continuing to keep high temperatures cooler than average.

Another wave of showers and storms will move in from the west Thursday evening. There is a Marginal Risk of severe weather nearby in Colorado, the Storm Prediction Center may expand it into portions of Western Kansas.

As rain and rumbles once again track west to east through the night, there will likely be some leftovers into Friday.

Southern portions of the area will need to be weather aware Friday. Strong to severe storms capable of damaging wind gusts and large hail will be possible.

New storms Friday will begin to bubble up during the afternoon.

This will eventually lead to another active night as spotty showers and storms track through the area.

This unsettled trend continues at least through the first half of Memorial Day Weekend. Warm weather enthusiasts will have to wait just a little longer before temperatures start to warm back up.
