Alstom Purchases Delaware Property for Amtrak Maintenance Facility

Alstom has announced the purchase of a 20-acre property in Newark, Delaware, dedicated to providing services and maintenance for Amtrak’s NextGen Acela high-speed passenger trains. The rail company is investing more than $55 million to acquire and improve the site. Once fully operational, the facility will employ approximately 100 people. The property was selected due to its direct access to the Northeast Corridor railroad tracks and will support Alstom’s Technical Support and Spares Supply Agreement (TSSSA) with Amtrak. As part of the development, Alstom will construct a new maintenance facility designed to service two trainsets concurrently, alongside a third outdoor track for vehicle storage.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Operational Timeline

The new maintenance facility is scheduled to open in summer 2028. Beyond the primary construction project, Alstom will modify an existing warehouse on the property to establish offices and storage for a parts distribution center.
