Bradley Goodman stands nervously in a crowd just before dawn, on the last warm Saturday in May. It’s still dark, but an air of anticipation awakens the room. He paces back and forth, laces his shoes, and packs his gear as he prepares to walk to the starting line of his longest race to date.
In 32 hours he will become Delaware’s only participant this year to complete the Rabid Raccoon 100, an ultramarathon held in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. By the time he crosses the finish line Sunday afternoon, he will have covered a total of 110 miles and an elevation gain of over 14,000 feet, through changes in weather, terrain, and visibility.
