Representatives of Monroe Energy’s MIPC LLC, during a virtual meeting held July 7, provided residents with an update about ongoing cleanup efforts at the Chelsea Pipeline Station and Tank Farm on Cherry Tree Road in Aston.
The Chelsea Tank Farm became the focus of state and local attention after MIPC reported in December 2025 that a leak discovered in March 2025 may have released as much as 9,000 barrels, or approximately 378,000 gallons, of gasoline from an above-ground storage tank. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) subsequently ordered Monroe Energy to undertake an extensive investigation, im- plement interim cleanup measures, monitor nearby drinking water supplies, and maintain regular communication with affected communities. During the July 7 presentation, conducted in coordination with DEP officials, the company reviewed the results of ongoing environmental investigations, including soil and groundwater testing, installation of additional monitoring wells, and operation of recovery systems designed to remove gasoline from beneath the site.
