The Kennett Square Mushroom Festival returns Sept. 12 and 13 for its 41st year, filling the self-declared “Mushroom Capital of the World” with food, farming demonstrations, live entertainment and family activities, writes Rich Schwartzman for Chadds Ford Live.
A one-block community celebration in the mid-1980s has since grown into one of Chester County‘s signature events, now drawing more than 100,000 visitors over two days and spotlighting an industry that supplies nearly two-thirds of the nation’s commercial mushrooms.
Visitors can wander through a mushroom-growing tent, sample dishes built around the fungus, pick up fresh mushrooms and watch chefs demonstrate their craft…
