West Chester Restaurant Inspection Reports for August

Each year, Chester County Health Inspectors visit every restaurant or food-serving entity in the county, checking for compliance with public health and safety codes. I compile these findings into the monthly West Chester Restaurant Inspection Reports. In August, 11 institutions did not live up to these codes. Plus, new this year, I have reports from the West Chester University dining halls.

Glendale Dining Services at Pocopson Home, 1695 Lenape Rd., out, 15 violations, including the reach-in fridge in the dining area not keeping food cold enough, the egg salad and vanilla pudding in the kitchen cooler kept beyond their use-by dates, and the sauerkraut had no date at all. All items were discarded during the inspection, and the self-serve unit was ordered repaired. There was also a litany of cleaning tasks such as the cookline equipment, slicer prep area, floors under the equipment, floors and tables in the coffee area, and the hand sink in the dining room.

So Sabroso, 105 Westtown Rd., out, 4 violations, including slices of cake and beverages in the self-service refrigerator without proper labels, no consumer advisory against eating undercooked meat and eggs, and a damaged rear door. ”Rear door to alley has gaps and rust damage, which risk vector entry,” the report reads…
