Delmarva Power & Light Co. on Sept. 4 appealed a recent Delaware Public Service Commission (PSC) decision to Superior Court, arguing that state regulators improperly reduced the utility’s interim rate recovery for investments it says have already been made to maintain and strengthen the electric grid.
“Delmarva Power today filed an appeal with the Delaware Superior Court seeking review of a Delaware Public Service Commission directive regarding the company’s implementation of interim rates,” Matt Ford, a spokesman for Delmarva Power, stated on Friday. “The company believes the order does not reflect the amount Delmarva Power is authorized to recover for the investments already made to support safe and reliable electric service under Delaware law.”
In order to mitigate bill impact, he said Delmarva Power voluntarily elected to implement an interim rate that is half of the full amount authorized by law, and the company thinks the PSC departed from Delaware statute by arbitrarily reducing that interim rate further…
