Small Store, Big Stories: Hockessin BookShelf Keeps Readers Connected

After more than two decades in Hockessin, the BookShelf continues to offer something larger than its footprint: a place to find a story, pass one along, and meet the people who love reading it.

At 826 square feet, Hockessin BookShelf does not have room for endless aisles. What it does have is a little bit of everything, from children’s books to mysteries, romance and fiction, along with a steady stream of readers bringing stories in and taking new ones home.

The new and used bookstore has been part of Hockessin since 2002. Its website calls the shop “a small wonder,” a description that fits a store where limited space has helped shape a personal approach to bookselling…
