After Friday’s season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers ended with quarterback Jordan Love suffering a gruesome leg injury and having to be helped to the sideline, fans were looking for somewhere to point their finger.
Well, they may have found it after a video posted by 247Sports’ Daire Carragher went viral with more than 750,000 views showing the offputting condition of the field after the game’s conclusion.
Chunks can be seen missing from the turf, which was likely conditioned for a soccer match and not fully capable of holding up to the rigors of a 60-minute football game.
“Billion dollar company allowed a middle school level playing field,” one user said .
“That field was not built for NFL. Different shape there’s no crown. Soccer players [weigh] 120 to 180 lb. NFL players [weigh] 300 lb,” added a second fan .
“Yes ‘Grow the Game’ but do a better job at picking a field that won’t injure players, AND allows for the skill and athleticism of these Professionals to play their best! Stop with the Money Grab Location exhibitions… Do it RIGHT or don’t do it at all!” exclaimed another fan .
