Brown Out, Smith and Barkley Set To Step Up For Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles will look to DeVonta Smith and Saquon Barkley to fill the void left by AJ Brown’s absence in Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Brown, the Eagles’ star wide receiver, has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, as reported by Adam Schefter on Sunday morning. The decision came after Brown missed Saturday’s practice, leaving Friday’s session early with the injury.

Eagles coach Nick Sirianni had initially downplayed the severity, saying Saturday, “Just got a little tight in practice yesterday.” However, the team has opted for caution with their key offensive weapon.

With Brown sidelined, Smith is expected to become the primary target for quarterback Jalen Hurts. The third-year receiver, who had a breakout season in 2022 with 95 receptions for 1,196 yards, will likely see an increase in targets against the Falcons’ secondary.
