Wilmington police identify 30-year-old man shot dead Saturday

A 30-year-old man shot dead in Wilmington over the weekend has been identified by police as Kajuan Warren.

Police did not provide further information about the shooting, which occurred about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Wilmington’s Brandywine Village community.

Warren was one of two people shot on Saturday near East 22nd and Lamotte streets.

Responding police also found 27-year-old woman in the area who was taken to an area hospital. While police did not provide her medical condition, they said she was stable.

Increase in violence

The number of people shot in Wilmington had been comparatively low during the summer months, with seven people wounded by gunfire in June, six in July and five in August. Gunplay picked up in the final days of August and continued into September, which has so far seen nine people shot with half a month to go.
