DOVER — Democratic New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer hopes to bring a new generation of leadership to Dover.
The gubernatorial hopeful is pursuing the role as Delaware’s chief executive after two terms as the head of the state’s largest county.
Come Election Day on Nov. 5, Mr. Meyer or Republican House Minority Leader Mike Ramone will become the next governor of the First State.
After being victorious in a contested three-way Democratic primary and heading into the general election, the county executive has heard time and time again the concerns and hardships facing everyday Delawareans.
“Delawareans are looking for a leader to get things done. Too many Delawareans are struggling with rent and mortgage payments that are just too high, housing prices that are higher than they’ve ever been before; health care that’s inaccessible; public education that is not preparing enough for success,” Mr. Meyer told the Daily State News.
“People are looking for innovative results, driven leadership that will actually deliver real, meaningful things to them. That’s what we brought to the table at the county, and that’s what we’re bringing to the table now.”
